Am I allowed to see a students safety play? YES! All staff (permanent, temporary or casual) have a right to review the safety plan and IEP of the student they are working with.
What about school keys? All staff should have keys to the building they are working at, this is a safety issue

I’m on the casual list, do I still get sick days? YES! All employees are entitled to 5 sick days / year

  • If you are scheduled to work and get sick call the CUPE HR line to report you are unavailable due to illness
  • If you are NOT scheduled wait until HR calls you for work, once they have assigned you work explain you are unable to work due to illness
How do I apply for an Leave of Absence (LOA)? Complete an LOA form found at the SD22 website HR Portal: 

  • use your school email / password to access
  • It is advised to fill out the form as soon as you know the dates you want off
