Swimsuits

Hey, shop steward my job requires me to go to the pool weekly with a group of students, the expectation is I go into the water to support them.  The chemicals in the pool have wrecked my bathing suit, I’ve heard there are funds for us to buy a new suit, is this true and if so, what do I need to do?

YES if you are required to support a student(s) for Adaptive Swim lessons you are entitled to a swimsuit!

Our Collective Agreement has a clothing allowance under ARTICLE 31:  GENERAL CONDITIONS section (g) Clothing Allowance.

There is also an allowance for regular permanent trades support staff that includes one pair of trousers and three shirts each year.  Trades staff are also entitled up to $ 100 for work boots annually.

Our Collective Agreement also states that “The employer will advise eligible employees of their clothing allowance entitlement (including swimsuits and safety footwear where applicable) on an annual basis” – reach out to your supervisor or shop steward if you have not been informed of your eligibility.
